Then this Arthritis Foundation approved activity can benefit you.

Tai Chi for arthritis is a form of Tai Chi that has been modified for people who live with arthritis. Even people who don’t have arthritis have benefited from this form of Tai Chi.

It has been documented that Tai Chi for arthritis has

  • decreased people’s pain, stiffness, soreness
  • increased their mobility.

Tai Chi in general has been proven to

  • increase people’s awareness of their body in space
  • increase balance, flexibility, energy levels
  • improve abdominal breathing skills and muscular strength
  • promote correct body posture
  • integrate body and mind
  • decrease the number of falls
  • decrease stress

Jereen Mercer a licensed occupational therapist assistant at Perry Memorial Hospital and a certified Tai Chi instructor. She received her Tai Chi certification from both the Arthritis Foundation and Dr. Paul Lam.

Perry Memorial Hospital Medical Rehabilitation Department will be offering Tai Chi for Arthritis classes at the Metro Center in Princeton on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10-11am. Each session costs $4. New participants are always welcome.
