Cardiac and Pulmonary Prevention
and Wellness Excercise Program

The purpose of this program is to develop and maintain fitness through a program of aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is used to reduce the risks of diabetes, obesity, peripheral vascular disease, hypertension, high cholesterol and others. The best aerobic exercises are those performed continuously with sufficient frequency, intensity and duration to achieve your target heart rate. Personalized, supervised exercise sessions for aerobic conditioning are available on a scheduled basis. Equipment includes treadmills, airdyne bicycles, rowers, and nusteps. Instructions on proper use of the equipment are given as part of the class.

Before you begin this program an evaluation will need to be completed, including a history and an assessment. The purpose of this evaluation is to determine if this program is right for you. An approval form, signed by your physician, is also required.

Each session consists of 20-30 minutes of aerobic activity. The time is divided by using several different pieces of equipment. Patients learn how to measure their own blood pressure and pulse. A record of their workout, and other pertinent data, is kept in the department for each participant to monitor their progress and maintain sufficient training. Blood pressure is measured and recorded before and after exercise.

The cost of these sessions is based upon the “package” chosen. Payment is received prior to beginning the program. Each “package” has a time limitation and must be used within that time frame. Exercise sessions are scheduled upon payment. Sessions are on a first scheduled basis and class size is limited. Please call 876-4472 for more information.
