New Wireless Fetal Monitoring

Pictured (sitting) is Meagan Johnson, expectant mother, Delois Birdsley, RN and Marion Gibson, RN next to the new fetal monitor and telemetry system that was recently purchased for the Perry Memorial Hospital Women’s Healthcare Unit. The Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation recently purchased this piece of equipment through generous donations from area businesses and individuals who donated towards the Foundation’s Annual Appeal. The new Avalon Fetal Monitor and Telemetry Unit is new high technology that has the expanded capabilities of wireless monitoring of the fetal heart rate and mother’s uterine contractions while allowing

mom to be up and mobile if she chooses. Since this unit is wireless and waterproof, it can also be used under water for continual observation for women who choose to labor and birth in water. The Women’s Healthcare Unit has plans to purchase a second unit in June.
