Safety and Security

YOUR HOSPITAL BED

Side rails are on your bed for your protection. When the rails are up, never attempt to get them down or climb over them. Use the call button for assistance if you need help.

Please do not get in and out of bed or a wheelchair by yourself unless you have been given permission to do so.

MEDICATIONS

Please do not bring medication from home. However, it is helpful if you would bring a list of medications that you are taking at home. All medications prescribed by your physician are supplied from Perry Memorial’s own pharmacy. Registered Pharmacists fill the prescriptions ordered by your doctor while you are a hospital patient. Registered Nurses will administer your medications.

PERSONAL APPLIANCES

For your safety, please do not bring personal portable appliances such as radios, TV’s VCR’s hairdryers, electric razors or other electrically operated equipment to the hospital. Electric razors are provided for your use. Battery operated equipment is generally accepted.

VALUABLES

Please do not keep your valuables, large amounts of cash or jewelry in your room. Valuables should be sent home with your family or kept in the Business Office during your stay. We cannot be responsible for items of this nature kept in the room.

EMERGENCIES

Perry Memorial Hospital is constructed to protect you and your loved ones while you are a guest in our facility. The building is constructed to compartmentalize smoke and fire. It has a modern fire alarm system to alert staff to the presence of fire and to automatically extinguish fire in certain areas. To remain properly prepared to meet emergency situations, the staff frequently practices for these emergencies. You may hear certain codes announced or alarms sounding. Most often, these are merely practice sessions. In the unlikely event a true emergency would occur while you are here, your caregiver will direct and assist you.

CLINICAL STAFFING INFORMATION

In an effort to ensure patient safety and high quality care, information about our staffing levels and staff competence is available by calling 815-875-2811, extension 2270 to make an appointment with the VP of Clinical Services. All questions will be answered in accordance with the 2004 Illinois “Hospital Report Card Act”.
